Kitchen Menus
For quite some time now, the Black Shire Pub has been sourcing its menu ingredients locally and serving up “from scratch” menu offerings. We take great pride that our sauces, salad dressings and all of our menu options are made from scratch, by hand, and in house. Even going so far as to make our own preserves, beer jelly, crab apples and pickles. We believe that not only is eating locally great for your health, but it is great for our economic and environmental health. For a complete look at our menu, see below.
Libations
Just as with our kitchen menus, we take great pride and believe strongly that local is the right thing to do when it comes to our drink menu and the brands we choose to offer at the Black Shire. We have been serving up local fare and offering local pints for over 4 years now, and are proud to offer 5 new taps to our traditional “coffin,” all of which we have committed to being local. That gives us 17 taps on the main floor and three in our private upstairs room. Don’t be shy if you are visiting from afar or just need to “get your Irish on,” as we still have a few traditional imported and domestic brews on tap including Guinness, Kilkenny, Stella, Sapporo, Bud Light and Keiths as well as others. In addition to our commitment to local beer, we also have chosen several VQA local wines, not just because they are local but also because they have made a commitment to ecology and sustainability.
“Ontario craft beer is delivered directly to stores, restaurants and pubs so that they are ‘bakery fresh’ when they reach consumers. OCB beer is fresh because it’s local. And fresh beer simply tastes better! And buying local makes more sense.”
